Tattoos by theme
For many people, Pokémon is more than a game: it's the Game Boy under the duvet, the first starter you ever picked and the cards you swapped in the playground. That's why a Pokémon tattoo almost always comes with a story. At Minka Tattoo in Barcelona we draw them in our own style, in full colour and with plenty of personality.
Every tattoo in this gallery is by Marta, the studio's anime and cartoon specialist: Mudkip coming out of a Game Boy Advance SP, Arcanine and Growlithe on the thigh, Psyduck in an ice-cream cone and Togepi crying in its egg. If your Pokémon isn't here, don't worry: we'll draw it for you.

There are three routes people tend to take. The first is your starter, the one you chose at the beginning of your very first game and that stayed with you all the way. The second is your favourite, even if it was never the strongest in your team. The third is one that matches your personality: Psyduck if you live with a permanent headache, or Snorlax if naps are sacred to you.
Nostalgia for a particular game works well too. The Mudkip coming out of a Game Boy Advance SP is a great example: it isn't only about the Pokémon, but about the console and the years you spent playing it. Cyndaquil, Vulpix and Togepi are other favourites we've tattooed, proof that you don't need to pick the most famous one to get it right.
We don't copy official artwork or sprites as they are. We start from whatever reference you bring, be it a pixel sprite, a trading card or an anime screenshot, and Marta draws her own version made for skin: clean lines, shapes that read well from a distance and an expression that brings it to life. That way your tattoo is one of a kind, designed for your body rather than a screen.
On colour: most of our Pokémon are done in full colour, because those bright, flat tones are a big part of their charm. Even so, a line-only version or one with minimal fill can look really elegant in small pieces. Kawaii style, like the Vulpix in the gallery, softens the shapes and enlarges the eyes for an even cuter result.
A Pokémon really comes alive when you pair it with something else. In the gallery you'll find Psyduck tucked into an ice-cream cone, another Psyduck on a sticking plaster and Mudkip emerging from a Game Boy. Food, consoles, Poké Balls or a simple background turn a familiar character into a scene with your own stamp on it. Another idea we love is mixing cats and Pokémon, like the sleeping cat in a Snorlax hood.
If you're a collector at heart, think about a series: several Pokémon added over time in the same area, in a consistent style. Marta has tattooed a series of cats dressed as Pokémon along one leg, as well as Growlithe alongside its evolution, Arcanine. Planning the series from the start helps you make the most of the space. We're near the Sagrada Familia, so get in touch and we'll design it with you.
Styles we do it in
Of course. The gallery only shows some of the ones we've tattooed; we can draw any Pokémon. Send us a WhatsApp with the one you want, a reference and the idea you have in mind (pose, expression, on its own or with other elements) and we'll prepare an original design for you.
Most Pokémon look their best in colour, since their palette is part of who they are, and nearly all of the ones in our gallery are coloured. If you'd prefer something subtle or very small, a fine line version with a touch of colour also works. We'll talk it through based on size and placement.
Yes, any reference helps: a pixel sprite, a card, an anime screenshot or your own sketch. We don't copy it as it is; we use it as the starting point for our own version, adapted to skin and to the style you're after. If you'd like to keep a pixel-art feel, that's possible too.
A small Pokémon looks great on the ankle, wrist or upper arm. If you want a scene, like Mudkip coming out of a Game Boy, or a pair of evolutions, the thigh, calf or forearm give you more room. For a series, the leg is ideal because you can keep adding pieces over time.
