Frequently asked questions

The questions we get every week on WhatsApp, answered in one place. If yours is missing, message us and we will add it.

Tattoos

How much does a tattoo usually cost?

Prices depend on the placement, the complexity of the design and the size of the tattoo. Send us a reference, the placement and an approximate size and we will give you a quote. Large pieces are worked per session, and we always agree the price before we start — no surprises.

Can I get tattooed without an appointment?

Yes. We take walk-ins every day within our opening hours (11:30 to 20:00). It depends on the day’s schedule and the size of the piece, so if you can, message us on WhatsApp first and we will confirm availability.

Can I exercise after getting a tattoo?

Better to wait. For the first 3 or 4 days it is best to avoid intense exercise: sweat, clothing friction and stretching skin can irritate the area and pull ink out. After that you can go back gradually, keeping the area from rubbing on machines or mats until it is fully closed.

Can I go to the beach or swim after a tattoo?

Not for the first 2–3 weeks. No sea, pool, jacuzzi or baths: soaking a fresh tattoo is the fastest route to an infection. Quick showers are fine, without scrubbing. And keep it out of direct sun, covered or with full protection once it has closed.

How do I take care of a new tattoo?

Wash the area 2 or 3 times a day with lukewarm water and neutral soap, pat dry with clean paper and apply a very thin layer of healing cream. Do not scratch, do not pick the scabs, and avoid sun, pools and tight clothing. We give you written instructions when you leave, and you can message us if anything looks off.

What tattoo styles do you do?

We work in traditional and kawaii Japanese, fine line, micro-realism, realism, neo-traditional, colour, anime, illustrative and small pieces. Each artist has their own specialty, so the best approach is to look at the portfolios and pick who fits your idea; if you are unsure, message us and we will point you in the right direction.

Is a deposit required to book?

Yes. For booked appointments we ask for a deposit that is deducted from the final price. It covers design time and the reserved slot. If you need to move the date with enough notice, the deposit stays valid.

Can I see the design before getting tattooed?

Yes. For project appointments the design is shown on the day of the session and adjusted with you before we start: size, placement and any detail you want changed. Nobody gets tattooed with something they have not seen.

What is the minimum age to get tattooed?

In Catalonia you must be of legal age. You need to bring your original ID, passport or NIE on the day of the session.

Does it hurt a lot?

It depends on the area and on the person. Forearm, calf or thigh tend to be the most manageable; ribs, sternum, neck and feet are more intense. Sessions can be paused whenever you need — there is no prize for toughing it out.

What should I bring on the day?

Your ID, comfortable clothes that leave the area accessible, and a proper meal beforehand. If the session is long, bring water, a snack and headphones.

Piercings

Do I need an appointment for a piercing?

No. Most piercings are done as walk-ins: drop by the studio Monday to Sunday, 11:30 to 20:00, and if there is a free slot we will do it on the spot. If you are coming as a group or want several piercings at once, message us on WhatsApp first and we will hold a slot for you.

Does getting a piercing hurt?

It is a sharp pinch, but it lasts a second. We pierce with a sterile needle, which is more precise and causes less damage to the tissue. The earlobe barely registers; cartilage areas sting a bit more and may stay tender for a few days. If needles make you nervous, tell us: we go at your pace.

What is the jewellery made of?

For fresh piercings we only use implant-grade titanium and gold, the materials with the lowest risk of allergy and irritation. No cheap steel or costume jewellery, which are the most common cause of healing problems. All piercing material is sterile and single-use.

How long does a piercing take to heal?

It depends a lot on the area. As a rough guide: earlobe, about 6–8 weeks; cartilage (helix, tragus, conch, daith…), 6 to 12 months; nostril, 4 to 6 months; septum, about 2–3 months; and navel, 6 to 12 months. No longer hurting does not mean it has healed inside, so keep up the aftercare until the end.

How do I look after an ear piercing?

Clean the area twice a day with sterile saline and pat it dry with clean gauze or paper. Do not twist or touch the jewellery, and sleep without lying on it: a travel pillow with a hole helps a lot. Also watch what rubs against the ear, such as headphones, hair, hats or your phone screen, which is worth cleaning often.

When can I change the jewellery?

The first piece of jewellery is deliberately a little longer, to leave room for swelling in the first days. After a few weeks, once the swelling goes down, it should be shortened: come by and we will change it for you. To switch to a different piece for looks, wait until the piercing has fully healed, and do not change it yourself at home while it is still healing.

Cover-ups

Can any tattoo be covered?

Almost any, but not in any way. It depends on the size, how dark it is and the placement. Very dense or very black tattoos usually need laser lightening first so the new design has room to work. Send us a photo and we will tell you what your options are.

Does the cover-up have to be bigger than the original tattoo?

Usually yes: somewhat bigger, with darker or more textured areas, so the old design is absorbed and does not show through. How much bigger depends on each case, and we work it out in the assessment.

Do I need to lighten the tattoo with laser first?

Not always. If the tattoo is small or not very saturated, or if the new design is dark, it can be covered directly. If you want something delicate or in light colours over a dark tattoo, it is better to lighten it first. That lightening is done at Bye Bye Tattoo Removal, our specialist laser removal centre.

How long should I wait after laser before the cover-up?

Until your skin has fully recovered from the last laser session, usually around 6–8 weeks. Tattooing earlier over skin that is still regenerating gives worse results.

Which styles work best for a cover-up?

The ones with solid areas, shading and texture: Japanese and illustrative work especially well. Fine line rarely covers anything on its own, although it can work over a well-lightened tattoo.
