How much does a tattoo cost in Barcelona?
What makes a tattoo cost more or less, how large pieces are quoted, and how to ask for a quote that is actually realistic.

This is the question we get most on WhatsApp, and the one that is worst answered with a single number. Let us break it down.
You are not just paying for centimetres
Every session, however short, consumes sterile single-use material — needles, cartridges, inks, film, gloves, covers — plus preparation and cabin disinfection time, and design time beforehand. That is why a two-centimetre tattoo and a five-centimetre one can cost practically the same: what you pay for is the whole process.
What pushes the price up
Size. More surface means more machine time.
Placement. Tattooing ribs or a neck is slower than a forearm: the skin moves, it is more sensitive and you have to go slower.
Detail and colour. Micro-realism with gradients is not tattooed at the same pace as a clean line. Colour also adds passes and healing time.
Design work. If the piece needs an original drawing, that upfront work is part of the price even though you do not see it.
Large pieces are charged per session
For a sleeve, a leg or a back it makes no sense to price by the centimetre. The full piece is planned, we estimate how many sessions it takes, and a per-session price is agreed. Before starting you know what each day in the chair costs.
How to ask for a good quote
The better the information, the tighter the answer:
- One or two visual references.
- The exact placement.
- The approximate size in centimetres (measure it against your skin with a ruler — it works far better than “medium”).
- Whether you want colour or black.
With that we can give you a real figure the same day. And a healthy warning: if a quote sits far below everyone else’s, ask yourself what is being cut. Usually it is material, time or experience.
